About

Annelise is a Licensed Couple and Family Therapist and a clinical member of the AAMFT (American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.) She has guest lectured at the University of Oregon presenting on the following topics: Counseling Issues in the GLBTQ Community, Healing Trauma Through the Body, and Using the Internal Family Systems Model. Annelise is also a registered supervisor for therapists in training.

 

Annelise’s work is informed by her belief in the inherent good in people. She has a knack for connecting with clients on a deeper level of understanding that fosters self-forgiveness and personal growth. Annelise cares deeply about her clients and chooses to focus on client strengths and capabilities rather than mistakes.

Annelise is always working to improve her skills as a therapist and can't get seem to take enough training opportunities. She has completed extensive trainings in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy through SPI, Attachment Focused EMDR through PTI, and also Yoga Therapy through Daya Foundation. She has also completed trainings in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), John Gottman's Couples Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as well as attended multiple conferences/trainings about working with people struggling with gender dysphoria and eating disorders. 

 

Annelise loves being outdoors; swimming, kayaking, playing disc golf, and taking her two dogs hiking, camping, and to the coast. She has a degree in fine arts and enjoys painting, sculpture and pottery, stained glass, and jewelry making. Annelise has practiced yoga for over 20 years and would love to incorporate it in therapeutic workshops one day. 

 

A genuine person, the warmth and humor Annelise brings to each session helps to provide a safe place for people to open up, explore options and create change. She believes that, “Therapy is a collaboration and as a therapist I’m present to help you discover what you value and who you want to be. I won’t just listen and ask "how does that make you feel?" but will be an active participant and guide in our work together.”
