Compassionate Mind-Body Therapy for Insight and Change

Because I honor the therapeutic relationship as an opportunity for profound healing and growth, I approach my clients with respect, honesty, transparency, and acceptance. I am devoted to providing therapy that is collaborative, strengths-based and empowering. Every individual is a unique being and therefore my style is flexible to each client’s emotional, mental, personal, cultural, and developmental needs. I honor and celebrate diversity and I provide a holistic and non-pathologizing approach to wellness.

I create an affirming place for people who identify as poly, kink, and LGBTQIA, genderqueer and questioning. I celebrate identity exploration and I will be present to help you discover what you value and who you really are. I encourage openness and honesty and my style is supportive yet direct. I am a feminist therapist meaning that when appropriate, I strive to raise awareness about the limitations of traditional gender roles and to challenge conditioned patterns and rules that may not be working for people personally or within their relationships. Overall, I believe in the inherent good in people and see most problems as arising out of attempts to adapt to the challenges within an environment and not out of weakness in an individual.

I specialize in helping couples and individuals with intimacy issues stemming from a history of sexual abuse/assault. Intimacy with another is such a rich part of our human experience and when it is thwarted by another’s violent behavior we deserve to reclaim our bodies, sexuality, and freedom. I have training in Emotionally Focused Couple's Therapy as well as The Gottman Method.

I also believe in the importance of working experientially, through the body and with the brain, to create lasting change. Whether there is discomfort in the body related to trauma, anxiety, eating or size, or gender identity, my approach often involves EMDR, IFS, sensorimotor and yoga therapy techniques to address patterns and pain that are stored in the body.

My approach is compassionate and safe yet I am still an active participant and guide in the process. I will ask the hard questions while supporting you in gaining self acceptance and trust. I nurture hope, resiliency, self-worth and assertiveness.
